Warm up: work on No Red Ink - Grammar test on Friday
Reviewed what makes an effective topic sentence. Then we went through how to write a strong example with explanation. I passed back your outline that you turned in Friday of last week and you then had the remainder of the time to work on revising your paragraph as a rough draft using the new skills and checklist I handed out.
You can find the presentation I used in class on Google Classroom. Please review it if you're having difficulty or if you were absent.
Finish rough draft.
Warm up: Interjections
Picture Day! Rally Day!
We just did a little scavenger hunt in class to see where everything is located. Then you looked for 5 books that you'd be interested in reading using GoodReads.com. You should also begin working on the NoRedInk practice found on Google Classroom. It'll be due next Friday.
Warm up: Subordinating Conjunctions

Finish your paragraph if not done in class.
Warm up: Conjunctions: coordinating and correlative
In class we took notes on author's purpose and point of view. I then demonstrated how to use these tools when reading to see how the author supports their purpose and shows their point of view through the use of rhetoric and rhetorical devices. If you were absent, you need to get the notes you missed from someone. You also need to ask that person to explain the annotations we did in class.
Warm up: Prepositions
Today's work is on StudySync. There is a handout that goes along with the assignment "Text Evidence". Please fill out the handout as you complete it. If you were absent, there will be a PDF of the handout at the top of the screen. You can print this from home OR answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper. Please keep it neat.
Finish the assignment if you did not finish in class today.
