Thesis Statement: Today's lesson was on how to write a thesis. We used the lesson on StudySync and a handout to identify parts of a thesis and then you created your own. When you finished, I collected this and handed out the next assignment: Organize Informative Writing, also on StudySync. I checked off work from last week: the Textual Evidence Chart and the questions that went with it. I collected the questions that went with the blast from Friday. Welcome back! Assignment today: Blast: Chemical Control. Complete the blast on StudySync and do 10 peer reviews. When you're done, work on your Frankenstein study guide. Your test is Monday when we get back! We've spent a few days reading through Silent Spring by Rachel Carson in your StudySync book. On Tuesday you looked at how she structured her informational text. Today, your assignment on StudySync is to complete the Close Read short answer question. When you've submitted your response you need to peer review 3 others. It'll ask you for 5 but you only need to do 3. Due at the end of the period.

Last week we read "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson in your StudySync book. Then you started to draft a script for a news report. Here is your assignment: Create a news report as if you are reporting live from the town Carson describes in "Silent Spring". Be sure to describe what the viewer is seeing and why this happened. You can create your news segment through any platform you'd like, just be sure to upload your video to Google Classroom.
