Warm up: identifying nouns
Today we closely examined the text. Create a poster to answer the question your group was given. On your poster:
Warm up: proper or common nouns
We watched presentations on respect today. Some of you did really well, others left a lot to the imagination. Afterwards, we broke down the purpose in Patrick Henry's speech to the second Virginia convention. Turn in your speech (annotated) and the SOAPS handout. Warm up: Vocab #1 3/4
There is a survey on Google Classroom called "Self-Awareness" that I need you to please complete. We then worked in groups to define 7 different ways to show respect. Tomorrow, you and your group will present your Google Slides to the class and we will discuss. HOMEWORK: Finish your slides on respect. Warm up: Vocab review
Today we took a closer look at author's purpose within Patrick Henry's speech. We did a SOAPS activity and then you were asked to highlight and annotate for evidence that shows his purpose in this speech. Due Monday. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Warm up: Grammar - get this from someone if you were absent You will find today's lesson on StudySync. We did "Textual Evidence" today. There is a worksheet that goes with the activity. You can find the worksheet in the absent bin in class, or on the actual assignment if you're willing/able to print it off. HOMEWORK: Finish Textual Evidence. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Lesson: Skill: Text Dependent Responses - There is a worksheet that goes along with today's lesson. Fill out the worksheet as you go, and turn it in when you're finished. If you were absent, this worksheet can be found in the absent bin, OR on the StudySync lesson itself, if you'd like to print your own copy. HOMEWORK: FINISH anything still in your "What's due?" page of StudySync. If it is turn in TODAY I will not mark it down because it is late. This is your ONE opportunity to make up missing work for free. Make it count. Assignments so far:
Warm up: Nouns (get this from someone if you were absent).
Today's lesson was on Collaborative Conversations. There is a worksheet that goes with the lesson we did in class today. If you don't have the worksheet, you can find a copy in the absent bin in the back of the room OR you can download it off of the StudySync lesson. Questions: see me. HOMEWORK: Finish the lesson we did in class today. We finished the first read activity on "Speech to the Second Virginia Convention" today. This activity can be found on StudySync. We did not answer the think questions that went along with the assignment. Instead, I had you answer questions on a Google form, found on classroom.
Today we did our first First Read lesson in StudySync.
On StudySync look for the lesson titled "First Read: Speech to the Second Virginia Convention". On the introduction page, watch the video first, and then read through the paragraph with information on Patrick Henry. What do you know about what was happening in America in 1775? Next, read and annotate (use those skills we learned!!!) Patrick Henry's speech. I'm looking to see annotations on Monday so finish that text! I know its a challenging read but that's okay. That's why we use those Reading Comprehension strategies and annotate the text. |
