Warm up: Today we made booklets that will serve as journals while we read To Kill a Mockingbird. We then did a lesson dealing with the significance of the n-word. The point of this exercise is to understand that the word can have different meanings in different contexts and to pay attention to how it will be used in the book. We ended with a silent write about how you think we should address the word when we see it in the text.
