Warm up: Conjunctions
We need to speed up the pace to finish this book by the beginning of next week! So you should expect to have a little more reading than previously. If you can read ahead, do it! Today we read Chapter 23 and then did a close read of three passages from the text. Finish this! I am collecting it tomorrow. Today's assignments can be found on Google Classroom. We read an article today on the Scottsboro Trials of the 1930s. Students followed along on their own screens as I read aloud. They were given the rest of the period to answer 10 questions on the article. HOMEWORK: Finish your questions on the Scottsboro Boys and turn in on Google Classroom. Oops! I got a little behind on this. Sorry! Back on track now.
Warm up: Preposition or Adverb? We continued on reading chapter 19 in To Kill a Mockingbird. This is the chapter where we hear Tom Robinson's testimony during the trial. After reading we answered the chapter questions in a sort of jigsaw activity. If you were not present in class today, you need to answer the chapter questions for chapter 19. HOMEWORK: None. One Question Quizzer: Chapter 15 or 16 Close read of Chapter 15. HOMEWORK: Read 1-2 chapters ahead of where you currently are in the novel. Warm up: Vocab #4 2/4
Today we did an open book quiz. On a separate sheet of paper, answer the questions from chapter 13 and chapter 14. Due at the end of the period. HOMEWORK: Chapter 15 and 16 questions. Warm up: Vocab Practice: Write a sentence using each of your vocab words.
Fridays are for doing Reading Plus. Each student needs to do one See Reader and two Read Arounds. HOMEWORK: Read chapters 15 and 16. Warm up: Prepositions: Create three sentences with three pictures to represent prepositions using "anywhere a cat can go".
SUB DAY. You're listening to chapters 13 and 14 today. Whatever you do not finish reading in class, you need to finish as homework. HOMEWORK: Read Chapters 13 and 14. Warm up: Prepositions (link here)
SUB DAY. With the sub you completed an iPhone assignment. You created a "phone profile" of one of the characters from the book. There is an example on the back of your worksheet to help guide you.
