1. On your character chart, add at least 3 quotes from section two that describe Madame Schachter. 2. Nearpod on Google Classroom about how setting can affect mood or tone. This includes virtual travel, so if you were absent, you're going to want to see it! HOMEWORK: None. 1. Classroom: We read an excerpt from a book titled Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler's Shadow by Susan Cambell Bartoletti. This gives an idea of what it was like to grow up in Nazi Germany and the pressures to conform to the Nazi agenda.
2. After reading we watched a video of students like you discussing the text. Then you answered the reading questions found after the article. (Remember AXES!) HOMEWORK: Finish reading questions from today. If you didn't finish the 4 reading questions from yesterday, be sure to complete those tonight as well. ANNOUNCEMENT: We will be testing tomorrow, so come to school well rested and fed! 1. Finish writing your AXES paragraph from yesterday. You're responding to one of the sentences from the figurative language activity on Classroom. 2. Cornell notes on Irony. 3. Answer the 3 reading questions for section one. The questions can be found on Google Classroom. You will answer each in the AXES format.

2. We read up to page 14 in the first section of Night. 3. Fill out character chart for Moshe the Beadle, Eliezer, and Schlomo. HOMEWORK: Work on character chart. 1. Vocabulary activity on Google Classroom. Use context clues to determine the meaning of each vocabulary word listed. Then write a show-you-know sentence. Instructions are on the activity. See me if you have questions or need clarification.
2. Read through the first three pages of Night. Answer the question: According to Moshe the Beadle, how does someone become closer to God? 3. I passed out a character chart. Begin filling out quotes from the text that tell us more about our characters' personal description, inner desires, and important traits. HOMEWORK: Finish vocabulary activity. Went to the library today to check out the book Night by Elie Wiesel. We then came back and took Cornell notes on the author and on the major themes presented in his book. We also watched Oprah's interview with Elie Wiesel. HOMEWORK:
