We did TWO skills lessons today on StudySync.
1. Context Clues - be sure to take Cornell notes and do your BEST on the "Your Turn" activity at the end.
2. Reading Comprehension - You worked together as a class to learn about reading comprehension. Put those skills to use in the "Your Turn" section.
Finish both activities if you didn't finish in class.
Time to go over the syllabus. You can find the syllabus on THIS PAGE on the right under "Important info" (or scroll down if you're on your phone). You will do a scavenger hunt through a Google Form found on Google Classroom. Due tomorrow!
We started with 10 minutes to make adjustments to your first writing assignment before turning it in.
Warm up: What platforms do you use to get updates on current events? Do you have a favorite?
Log in to StudySync (see directions in a previous post) and complete the Blast lesson. When you've written the best Blast you can to the driving question, do 20 peer reviews. You will review blasts from others and give them a score of 1-5 stars. Leave constructive and kind feedback for at least 5 people. Top 3 blasts will get a prize!
HOMEWORK: Finish peer reviews.

Warm up: Vocab #1 1/4. If you were absent make sure to get it from a friend.
We used our new annotation skills to dissect the writing prompt a little more. We discussed the prompt in class, and then you had time to make adjustments to your writing assignment. You will have 10 minutes to work on your writing assignment tomorrow in class and then it will be due.
Warm up: Write the date at the top of your page in your notebook. If you're absent, it's your responsibility to get the missing warm up from either here, or from a friend. Today, look around the room and choose a quote from one of the posters. Tell me why that quote is important and why you chose it.
We logged into StudySync for the first time today. To get there go to www.psusd.us > Schools > Clever Log In > Log In with Google > StudySync Icon > StudySync icon.
From there, do the "Annotation" activity, taking Cornell notes in your notebook as you read through the definition and the model. Once you've done the "Your Turn" tab with the matching, be sure to hit "Submit Work" so I can see you've done it.

We did an in-class writing diagnostic today. You had the period to read through the prompt and respond in essay form. If you were absent, please see me either during lunch or after school to make up this assignment. This was an IN-CLASS write so it needs to be done in class and turned in at the end of the period.
Book selfie! Take a selfie with your favorite book and upload the image to Google Classroom. Then fill out the sheet with information about why this book is your favorite. Due Monday, August 14 by 3:30 pm.
