You have three tasks to work on today.
HOMEWORK: Jamaica Kincaid annotated for document protocol and style analysis. Pop quiz on last night's reading!
Check Google Classroom for the assignment today. Make sure you do all three parts to the activity. 1. Rhetorical appeal and definition, 2, video example, 3. explanation of how that video is an example of said rhetorical appeal. Do one slide for each appeal. DUE TODAY. There seemed to be a miscommunication on what was expected over the weekend. So, today you did the following:
HOMEWORK: Read ANALYZING RHETORIC in Truth’s a Dog. Pages 7.26 - 7.37. Tone: After reading the section on tone in Truth's a Dog we discussed how to find the tone of a passage. We did passage 1 on page 7.23 together. It is your responsibility to do the rest of them on your own. When you are done, choose one to write an analysis of. What was the tone and how do you know?
HOMEWORK: Finish your paragraph analysis of one of the passages. Syntax day 2: Present posters on different parts of syntax. If you were absent for either or both of these days, you will need to choose one aspect of syntax, find an example of it in one of the speeches, and write about how it impacts the speech.
HOMEWORK: Read tone section. Pass back speeches packet. Grade is on the back.
Syntax Posters: In groups of 3, focus on ONE feature of syntax. Find 3 examples of syntax from the speeches and explain what kind of impact each has on the speech as a whole. Create a pretty poster to display your work. HOMEWORK: Finish fining and explaining your examples. You'll have 15 minutes to finish your poster tomorrow before presenting. Time to work with new vocab words: List 3 & 4
Speeches packets are due at the end of the period for me to grade and return to you tomorrow. I'm looking specifically for how much annotating you have as well as highlighting. If you don't have much written, you won't get much credit. ****SUB TODAY
Read Chapter 7: Syntax. Annotate all five speeches for syntax. HOMEWORK: Have all 5 speeches annotated for diction and syntax by Tuesday. |
