Warm up: Notes on Adverbs:
Adverbs - modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. An adverb can answer any of these: Where? When? How? To what extent?
Adverbs modify verbs:
Henry swam brilliantly. (How did Henry swim?)
Adverbs modify adjectives:
The day was almost perfect. (To what extent was the day perfect?)
Adverbs modify adverbs:
Sonny, swallow your food very slowly. (How slowly should Sonny swallow his food?)
***Many adverbs end with -ly, though some do not.
We talked about major themes within A Lesson Before Dying such as racism, injustice, loyalty, humanity, responsibility, and education. There is a lesson on Nearpod that will guide you through creating a theme statement. The link can be found through Google Classroom.
Tomorrow we will be working on a One-Pager. This is one page for you to show your knowledge and connection with the book. I handed out a description and rubric for the One-Pager today, so keep it with you as we work on these tomorrow and Friday.
Finish the book!
