Warm up: Food Journal! Record everything you ate and drank yesterday and rate your healthiness with either a smiley, straight face, or sad face.
We are preparing to read "The Pleasures of Eating" by Wendell Berry. In preparation, we need to go over some key vocabulary from the article. You can find extra vocabulary worksheets in the back of the room in the "absent" bin. First step to vocab, is to go through the list on your own and indicate how well you know the words. Then, we did a matching game. Working with your group, try to match the definitions to the correct word. When done and correct, record your definitions on your own vocab sheet. HOMEWORK: None.

Warm up: Finish goals or respond to a quote by Henry David Thereaux
We started a food diary today. Each day you will record what you ate and drank the day before. After recording your food, rate how healthy you were with either a smiley face, a straight face, or a sad face. We will keep track of our food and use refer to our food diary throughout this unit. After setting up our food diary, skip 5 pages in your JOURNAL (the same one we used for A Lesson Before Dying) to leave space to continue adding to your food diary. Draw a picture of where your food comes from. Then explain, in writing, why you chose to draw that image and answer the question: How much do you know about where your food comes from? We then worked in groups to discuss prereading questions for "The Pleasures of Eating" by Wendell Berry.
HOMEWORK: None. Welcome back!
Warm up: I want to hear about your three week break. Write one page about what you did, who you saw, where you went, or what you didn't do over break! Due at the end of the period. Everyone has things in their past they are not proud of, but we can't go back in time to change things. Today, we wrote down one regret or disappointment from 2016 and crumpled it up and tossed it in the trash. We're moving on! We watched Michelle Obama's final speech as first lady beacuse she spoke directly to you: the youth of America. We then made goals, or HOPES for 2017. On a white sheet of paper, use color and neatness to show your goal and three ways to achieve your goal.We will finish them tomorrow as a warm up. HOMEWORK: None. |
Important:Be sure to check back daily for assignments. Especially if you were absent! Archives
