Warm Up: Adverb Practice
One question quizzer! Chapter 6 We did an activity called "Day in the Life of the Working Poor." Together with a partner you created a plan on how to live off of just $20.50 for one day according to a given scenario. Everyone had awesome discussions and worked well together to determine how and where they would use that money. HOMEWORK: Finish the quickwrite at the bottom of the handout.

Today we worked on our writing skills. We learned a new strategy for writing a paragraph response called ACE. A is for Answer the question, C is for Cite Evidence, and E is for Explain how your evidence connects to your answer. Please find someone in class to take notes from. We then practiced writing a paragraph as a class before writing one on your own. HOMEWORK: Finish paragraph and read chapter 6. Warm up: Vocab word practice
We started with a one question quizzer from chapters 3-5. If you were absent you need to come to me to make this up on your own time. We then worked in small groups to answer chapter questions for three and four. I passed back vocab quizzes as well. HOMEWORK: Finish chapter 5 questions. Today we did the InSight assessment on Reading Plus. You can access reading plus by going to www.psusd.us, clicking on the "schools" tab, and going to "Clever Log In". From Clever you can access reading plus by clicking on the orange icon.

Period 3: Great California Shakeout. HOMEWORK: Read chapter 2 of To Kill a Mockingbird. Period 4: We read chapter 2 of To Kill a Mockingbird. After reading we did a close read of two sections of the chapter. The remainder of the period students worked to complete the chapter 2 study questions. HOMEWORK: Finish chapter 2 questions. centennial, perennial, millennium, per annum, semiannual, superannuated We finished our notes from Friday and then read chapter one of To Kill a Mockingbird. After reading, we used the description of the Radley house on page 10 to draw a picture of the house in our booklets. HOMEWORK: Finish drawing. We went to the library today to check out To Kill a Mockingbird. When we came back we took notes on the characters of our story. We will finish our notes on Monday and I will post the link to the presentation on that day. HOMEWORK: None. Warm up: Today we made booklets that will serve as journals while we read To Kill a Mockingbird. We then did a lesson dealing with the significance of the n-word. The point of this exercise is to understand that the word can have different meanings in different contexts and to pay attention to how it will be used in the book. We ended with a silent write about how you think we should address the word when we see it in the text.

At the end of the Prezi presentation, you were asked to write a diary entry from the perspective of a villain. You can write the journal entry on the same piece of paper as your notes.
