Warm up: Name your favorite celebrity. Are they a conformist or a nonconformist and why?
Working in groups of four, students cut pictures out of magazines that either represented a conformist or a nonconformist. Each poster showed either one or the other, but not both. Students then wrote about why those images were representative of either confomity or nonconformity. Posters will be presented at the beginning of the class tomorrow.
Finish poster if not completed in class.

Afterwards we defined the terms "conformist" and "nonconformist," looking at celebrities as examples.

- Similar to others and do what other people do
- a person whose behavior or views do not conform to popular ideas or practices
- Does not do what is popular
Warm up: I want to hear about your three week break. Write one page about what you did, who you saw, where you went, or what you didn't do over break! Due at the end of the period.
Everyone has things in their past they are not proud of, but we can't go back in time to change things. Today, we wrote down one regret or disappointment from 2016 and crumpled it up and tossed it in the trash. We're moving on!
We watched Michelle Obama's final speech as first lady beacuse she spoke directly to you: the youth of America. We then made goals, or HOPES for 2017. On a white sheet of paper, use color and neatness to show your goal and three ways to achieve your goal.We will finish them tomorrow as a warm up.
